Punctuation Lesson


Set: The teacher creates a Voki without punctuation to show how punctuation helps the reader understand what is written.

Objective : The student will compose 3 sentences using capital letters and periods correctly. The student will then create a Voki and have their Voki "speak" their sentences.

Task Analysis - Student must be familiar with upper and lower case letters.

Purpose : So that others can read and understand their writing

Model : Using a document camera & an Activboard and a book the teacher will model the use of correct punctuation
Using the pen tool the students will circle capital letters and periods on the sample text.

Guided Practice: The students will compose 3 sentences on a topic of their own choosing.

Check for Understanding: Via the Activboard and the Document camera the teacher will show examples of student writing and the the students will make necessary corrections.

Independent Practice: The students will exchange papers and verbally edit each others work.The author will make the necessary corrections.

Closure : The student will make a Voki of their own using the sentences of their own composition.
